Whether you got here from a recommendation or through the wizardry of the Internet search, thanks for stopping by!
I created this blog to showcase some of the best burgers in the country – ones that I can personally endorse.
As I am constantly travelling, I am always testing new suggestions and checking those found on the "Best Burger" lists.
I will be updating the site as often as I have time, so keep sending ideas my way! Again, thanks for checking this out!

If you are looking for my vote for the best burger chain in America, look no further than Portillos.

Dick Portillo started his first hot dog stand in Villa Park, IL in 1963. Since then, he has opened 50 of these extremely high quality restaurants serving some of the best food money can buy.

Of course, they are known for their dogs - Chicago style, with poppy seed buns and celery salt on top. My significant other will tell you that Portillo's has the best Italian Beef sandwich there is (make certain to get it with extra gravy).

I am here to talk about the burger: flamed broiled and HUGE. I always share with folks that Portillo's today reminds me of what a Whopper from Burger King used to taste like 30+ years ago. Unlike the Whoppers of today, all of the Portillos burgers are fresh, hot and juicy. Fantastic flame broiled taste, but not a thin, overcooked, sit in a bin type. It comes on a corn meal bun, which is also excellent and soaks in the juices.

And the fries - best "fast food" fries I know. In fact, I know of only one place that has better fries - I'll review them here eventually. Crinkle cut, hot and exactly what well cooked fries are supposed to taste like.

If you are in the Chicago area, PLEASE do yourself a favor and look up Portillos. I have been going there for 20 years, and will hopefully be going there for 20 more.  There are plenty of good Vienna beef places in the Chicago area, and you should try them all. But Portillos stands out as one of the - if not THE - best for this reviewer.
